Chemical
& Biochemical Wood Valorization: Solutions for New Materials and Products? A “Wood Intelligence” conference and a Chemistry for a sustainable development® Project 3 & 4 February 2009 Epinal, France |
| As
petroleum becomes more expensive, scarcer, and is recognized as
environmentally not friendly (CO2), it is obvious that another carbon
source, such as biomass and mainly wood, may serve as alternative raw
material. Its conversion into bio-products is, nowadays, technologically feasible. One of the objectives of the “Fiber Cluster” is to promote chemical conversion of wood, on a future platform under setting up. On this occasion, the Cluster and FFC (French Federation for Chemical sciences) organize together, in Epinal (France), an international conference: “Chemical and biochemical wood conversion”. The main objectives of this conference are: • International overview of past, present and potential future bio-products derived from wood, with their conversion processes. • Panel discussion “Challenges and perspectives for Research, Innovation, Industry and the Fiber Cluster”. This scientific and technical event will allow discussions between participants, speakers and authors of posters, with an international, multi-sector and multidisciplinary approach. It will encompass during one and half day, participants from Pulp and Paper, Wood Industry, Chemical Industry, Research and University, European professional unions. |
